SymptomsA customer purchased PVC (Parallels Virtuozzo Containers) container in PBA-S. During the purchasing process customer entered desired root password and hostname which were set for their container.
After container was provisioned customer changed root password in the container.
Later, customer decided to change hostname of the container and performed needed change in customer CP - System > Server Info > Summary > Change Server Name.
Unexpectedly, root password of the container was also changed to the value which customer originally entered during container purchase process.
CauseProvider has the option "Keep Container passwords in the database" enabled, so PBA-S does keep root password of container which was set during a container creating process in database.
When customer changed hostname of the container PBA-S performed container synchronization and root password was set to the value which was used during container creating, thus password which customer set after the container was created was lost.
ResolutionTo solve the problem Provider need to do the following actions:
- log into PBA-S PCC (Provider Control Center)
- go to Top > Service Director > Virtuozzo Manager > Setup
- switch the option 'Keep Container passwords in the database' off
