user_realm_discovery_failed: User realm discovery failed

sitelog error:

ERROR aps_endpoint: Microsoft.IdentityModel.Clients.ActiveDirectory.AdalServiceException: user_realm_discovery_failed: User realm discovery failed
StackTrace:    at Microsoft.IdentityModel.Clients.ActiveDirectory.AuthenticationContext.RunAsyncTask[T](Task`1 task)

Cause

Office 365 Endpoint cannot connect to the Azure AD to perform auth process.
It could happen because of two reasons:

  1. When some proxy server is specified on the level above and affects VM, serving as an Office 365 Endpoint;
  2. The only TLS 1.2 is enabled on the Office 365 Endpoint host.

Resolution

  1. Specify valid proxy settings in the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\config\machine.config file on the Endpoint host;
  2. Enable TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 on the Office 365 Endpoint host.
