Overview

Office 365 package offers a set of Migration scripts for automatic conversion of Syndication Subscriptions to CSP in Odin Automation:

prepareMOSI2CSP.py
completeMOSI2CSP.py
importSubsCSP.py

shipped in the versions below:

General conversion workflow

  1. Contacting Microsoft and notifying about your intention to start the migration in desired dates and number of Accounts you want to move to CSP. It gives guarantees that migration can be done on exact dates and will help to speed up the process on Microsoft side.
  2. Notifying Customers about upcoming migration.
  3. Preparing OA Customers list (via Export option in Billing Automation).
  4. Running prepareMOSI2CSP.py script for OA Customers from step 2: it generates a batch file with MOSI Account IDs.
  5. Sending a batch file to Microsoft via email. In response you should receive 2 resulting CSV files: 1st with successfully converted MS Account; 2nd - with MS Accounts rejected during the transition for some reasons.
  6. Running completeMOSI2CSP.py script for the 1st CSV file: it searches for suitable CSP plan in Billing Automation and creates an output CSV file with the mapping.
  7. Running importSubsCSP.py script using mapping file from the step 5 to perform transition in Odin Automation: it either creates new CSP Subscription(s) or moves Syndication Subscription(s) to CSP plan/template according to the selected migration mode: Split (16.6.2/16.8.3) or Preservation (new in 16.8.3)
  8. Running prepareMOSI2CSP.py script with --rollback for 2nd CSV file received from Microsoft on the step 4. It activates Syndication Subscription back in Odin Automation.

Key notes

  • Migration from both APS 1.2 and 2.0 supported
  • Migration can't be performed under TIP Account (Microsoft does not support it)

Office 365 16.6.2

Documentation | Troubleshooting | Release Notes

Prerequisites

  • Odin Automation v. 6.0.9, v. 7.0.1
  • Office 365 Syndication 16.6.2 (APS 2.0) or Office 365 4.17 + Patch KB 130292 (APS 1.2)
  • Office 365 CSP 16.6.2
  • All Trial Subscriptions converted to Paid
  • All Legacy SKUs switched to Modern SKUs

Supported modes

Split

Upon conversion in this mode, Syndication Subscription gets recreated automatically to 1 or several new CSP Subscriptions according to included offers and existing CSP plans configuration. Original Syndication Subscription is canceled at the end of the conversion.

Advantages

  • This mode is suitable when multi-offer Syndication Subscriptions need to be migrated but there is no multi-offer target CSP plan that would cover all offers included to the Subscription.

Limitations

  • Does not allow to move Subscriptions with DNS resource in use by Customers domains (except of .onmicrosoft.com)
  • Does not allow to move Subscriptions with any non-Office resource with limit > 0

Office 365 16.8.3

Documentation | Troubleshooting | Release Notes

Prerequisites

  • Min Odin Automation v. 7.0.1 + HF 130306 (required)
  • Office 365 Syndication 16.8.3 (APS 2.0) or Office 365 4.17 + Patch KB 130292 (APS 1.2)
  • Office 365 CSP 16.8.3
  • All Trial Subscriptions converted to Paid
  • All Legacy SKUs switched to Modern SKUs

Supported modes

Split

Upon conversion in this mode, Syndication Subscription gets recreated to 1 or several new CSP Subscriptions according to included offers and existing CSP plans configuration. Original Syndication Subscription is canceled at the end of the conversion.

Advantages

  • This mode is suitable when multi-offer Syndication Subscription need to be migrated but there is no multi-offer target CSP plan that would cover all offers included to the Subscription.

Limitations

  • Does not allow to move Subscriptions with DNS resource in use by Customers domains (except of .onmicrosoft.com)
  • Does not allow to move Subscriptions with any non-Office resource with limit > 0
  • Target CSP plan can contain only "simple" Composite resources (which include only 1 basic Resource), otherwise it won't be considered as suitable for the migration

Preservation New

In this mode original Syndication Subscription gets switched to CSP plan and template.

Advantages

  • ID of a Subscription in Odin Automation is not changed (it's a requirement if Odin Automation is integrated with a 3rd-party system)
  • Allows to migrate Subscriptions with DNS hosting resource in use by Customers domains (but it should be included in the target CSP template)
  • Allows to migrate Subscriptions with any non-Office resource (but it should be included in the target CSP template)

Limitations

  • Target CSP template and plan requires more preparation:
    • Target CSP template should contain all non-Office resources as in Syndication template with sufficient limits
    • Target CSP plan should be added to Upgrade path of Syndication Plan in Billing Automation.
