Do not generate renewal orders automatically option means that automated generation of renewal orders is disabled, but still subscription renewal is possible and necessary if a subscription is not designed to last only a single billing cycle.
Therefore, it makes sense to notify customers that the renewal period is nearly over.
Nevertheless, OBAS has a number of means to customize notifications sending.
At first, notifications can be set up per account under
Top > Account Director > Customer Manager > Customers > %customer_name% > Notifications For more details please refer to Selecting Events an Account Owner Receives E-Mail Notifications.
Customers can also configure notification settings in their customer panels under
Account > Notification Settings
