After upgrade to 4.5.6 some domains are offline and in
/var/log/messages on the name servers there are a lot of messages like
May 31 08:32:03 ns1 named: zone domain1.tld/IN: (slave) removed Jun 1 21:32:42 ns1 named: zone domain2.tld/IN: (slave) removed Jun 1 21:32:42 ns1 named: zone domain3.tld/IN: (slave) removed
Starting from 4.5.6, domain DNS information is propagated strictly to those name servers that are listed in domains' DNS zone.
As it is stated in 4.5.6 release notes
PBAS-22979 DNS zones changes should be synchronized between name servers listed in the zone NS records only.
However, because of "all-to-all" principle (all records to all name servers) of DNS propagation used in OBAS prior to 4.5.6, there were a lot of DNS records on wrong name servers. Those incorrect records are removed during the upgrade.
As a side effect, those domains which contained NS records pointing to non-working name servers only but were actually managed by working name servers become offline.
Please make sure that all domains have correct NS records in their DNS zones. Please note that there is an option to switch name servers for multiple domains at once. To do that, please go
Top > Service Director > Domain Manager > Domains, select the domains required, press Change Name Servers and follow the wizard.
NOTE Prior to 4.5.7 the option worked for registered and transferred domains only. For domains registered elsewhere it would result in the message below.
Name Servers cannot be changed for the selected domain(s). Domain(s) are either registered elsewhere or in the 'Unregistered' status.
To make it work for domains registered elsewhere either upgrade to 4.5.7, or download 64-bit or 32-bit hotfix depending on your OS. The hotfix works for 4.5.6 only and consists of two RPM packages, it is required to install them both.
64-bit hotfix files
32-bit hotfix files
Install them by running the commands below.
For 64-bit OS:
# rpm -Uhv hspc-cp-dns-4.5.6-37.swsoft.x86_64.rpm hspc-domain-manager-4.5.6-37.swsoft.x86_64.rpm # service hspcd restart
For 32-bit OS:
# rpm -Uhv hspc-cp-dns-4.5.6-37.swsoft.i386.rpm hspc-domain-manager-4.5.6-37.swsoft.i386.rpm # service hspcd restart
Warning: Restart of the
hspcd service will cause OBAS downtime for about 10-60 seconds.
The hotfix also mends DNS issues after upgrade to 4.5.6.
