Symptoms

  1. Cannot create the Windows-based subscription. The task Create the web hosting on the webspace #101 fails with error:

The component Microsoft ASP.NET 4.0 was not installed

  2. When attempting to open the ASP.NET Settings, the following error is thrown:

Warning: The ASP.NET configuration is corrupted due to the damage of the server ASP.NET configuration file.

  3. The following output can be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\admin\logs\agent.log on the Windows service node the website is hosting on:

    2016-02-05 16:29:56 [AGENT][INFO]: argument: C:/Program Files (x86)/Parallels/Plesk/admin/bin/aspnetcfg.exe

    2016-02-05 16:29:57 [AGENT][INFO]: STATUS: SUCCESS
    2016-02-05 16:29:57 [AGENT][INFO]: Output:
<error><resultCode>1</resultCode><info>Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.6.1055\config\machine.config'.</info></error>

Cause

Windows update KB3102467 was installed on the service node. As a result the ASP.NET 4.5 was updated to ASP.NET 4.6 without changing the directory.

However, PA searched for ASP.NET 4.6 in the separate folder ( in the example above - C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.6.1055\) that does not exist.

This behavior was considered as software issue PPA-3140.

Resolution

The fix is included in Plesk Automation MU#23.
