Symptoms

The task "Tune up security for folder '<DIR>'" generated after update to POA 5.5.4 fails with the following error:

Destination host '<HOST>' (#38), IP '<IP>' : Provisioning request failed. Access is denied. [<response><errorContext description="Access is denied." code="0x80070005" executeSeqNo="3"><errorSource namespace="Error Provider" procedure="SetError"/><errorSource namespace="Error Provider Ex" procedure="RethrowError"/></errorContext></response>]

Cause

Insufficient permissions to <DIR> folder

Resolution

Tuning up permissions is done under pem_admin user. The task could fail if pem_admin user cannot become owner of the folder <DIR>. In such case, login to the problem server under pem_admin and take ownership for the folder <DIR>. Then re-run the task, it should be processed successfully. After that, set the ownership back to the previous owner.

Or, as an alternative, do the following:

  1. Add the <DOMAIN>\pem_admin user to local administrators on the problem host (can be done by right-clicking Computer > Managing users and groups)
  2. Access Control Panel and disable UAC,
  3. Reboot the node,
  4. Ensure that antivirus is not running, or does not have a handle at <DIR>
  5. Rerun the task, wait until it finishes,
  6. Enable UAC,
  7. Reboot the node
