Exchange tasks fail in POA with the error message 'MapiExceptionNetworkError: Unable to make connection to the server. (hr=0x80040115, ec=-2147221227)'.

Most likely there is problem with establishing network connection to the target server menitoned in the error message.


1. Check that the problem Exchange server is up and running.

2. Check that all Exchange services configured for automatic start are running, use the Services MMC snap-in.

3. Make sure that the following network ports are open on the targer Exchange server:

  • 53 (TCP) DNS
  • 88 (TCP) Kerberos
  • 135 (TCP) RPC End Point
  • 389 (TCP) LDAP
  • 443 (TCP) HTTPS Mailbox Replication Proxy service uses port 443 to communicate with other Exchange 2010 client access server via HTTPS.
  • 445 (TCP) Microsoft-DS Service
  • 808 (TCP) Mailbox Replication Service uses to communicate
  • 3268 LDAP
  • 1024 > 65535
