How to change outgoing IP address on Postfix mail node?


Postfix node uses the default IP address for sending mail from.

The IP is defined in /etc/postfix/master.cf: unix - n n - - smtp -o smtp_bind_address= -o smtp_bind_address6= -o smtp_address_preference=ipv4

To change the IP address of outgoing mail:

  1. Backup the original configuration file:

    # cp /etc/postfix/master.cf{,.back}
  2. Open the configuration file and replace old IP address with the new one in line: unix - n n - - smtp -o smtp_bind_address= -o smtp_bind_address6= -o smtp_address_preference=ipv4
  3. Restart Postfix.
