Exchange Services State, Users, and Organizations

All provisioned Exchange services, organizations and mailboxes may be found in OA Provider Control Panel:

  • Top > Services > E-mail > Other > Services
  • Top > Services > E-mail > Organizations
  • Top > Services > E-mail > Mailboxes

    These pages provide statistics on Exchange organizations and their members. The data can help you to prepare marketing plans (create new service plans or manage promotions), troubleshoot customers issues, etc.

Normally, mailboxes and services should stay in the Ready status. Those held in a transition statuses like Creating, Updating, and Deleting for a long period of time, as well as those marked Failed require administrative attention.

Exchange Mail Services Troubleshooting Tips

  • Click on the problem Exchange mailbox to see its Organization ID.
  • Click the Exchange Organization ID link and note the Exchange version, domain name, organization name and unit.
  • Go to Top Operations > Tasks and perform search for failed tasks with name containing mailbox ID.
  • See the Last execution output of the tasks for debug information.
  • Use the built-in tools like Exchange Management Console, Exchange Management Shell etc. to do problem research.
  • When the problem is fixed on the Exchange side, re-run the failed tasks in OA.

Clustered Qmail Services

Clustered Qmail servers may be found in OA Provider Control Panel:

  • Top > Services > E-mail Qmail Services
  • Top > Infrastructure > Service Nodes > Clusters

    Depending on the role assigned to the server, it can be used for processing Incoming, Outgoing or both (Mixed role) messages. The status of Qmail server indicates if the service role in the file system of the server is really the same as it is displayed in the Role column. Ready status means that the service really works in the indicated role. Updating status means that the service works in the role that it worked in before the last change of the role.

Postini Recipients

Find the list of Postini recipients in OA Provider Control Panel at Top > Services > E-mail > AS/AV > Postini E-mail Security > Recipients.

Pay attention to the statuses of the Postini recipients to discover potential issues. Most of the time, recipients should stay Active. Otherwise, you should identify the root cause of the problem as it may lead to mail service malfunction.

Postini Troubleshooting Tips

  • Write down e-mail address of the problem mailbox.
  • Go to Top > Operations > Tasks and search for failed tasks with a name containing the address.
  • See the Last execution output of the tasks (or ones having dependencies with them) for debug information.
  • When the problem is fixed, re-run the tasks and check the Postini recipient status.

MessageLabs Domains

Domains protected by the MessagLabs E-mail Security service are listed in OA Provider Control Panel at Top > Services > E-mail > AS/AV > MessageLabs > Domains.

Keep domains in a Protected status for Message Labs to function properly.

MessageLabs Troubleshooting Tip

  • Write down the ID of the problem domain.
  • Go to Top > Operations > Tasks and search for tasks with the name containing the ID.
  • See the last execution output of the tasks (or ones having dependencies with them) for debug information.
  • When problem is fixed, re-run the tasks and check Message Lab domain status.
