POA 5.4: Known Issues, Limitations, and General Notes
The article describes known issues and limitations of Parallels Operations Automation (POA) 5.4, as well as general notes about the release.
The "Install skin package" task sometimes fails
If other than “default” skin is selected for a brand, the “Install skin package” task is created. This task can fail if an IIS webserver is selected for branding. After being restarted, the task finishes successfully.Control Panel may be broken after upgrading to POA 5.4
Provider and Customer Control Panel may appear inconsistent immediately after upgrading to POA 5.4:
- CP icons may be missing
- CP items may be aligned improperly
Clear the cache and cookies in the browser to solve the problem.
Branding on IIS webserver may not work
If a brand webspace is hosted on IIS webserver, the following error message may occur:Server Error in '/.skin' Application. This type of page is not served. Description: The type of page you have requested is not served because it has been explicitly forbidden.
This means that ASP.NET is enabled on this website. To fix this disable ASP.NET on branding website.

Exchange 2010 SP2 Enterprise Mode support
Before upgrading to POA 5.4, existing Exchange Server 2010 Enterprise Mode installations must be upgraded to Exchange Server 2010 SP2. For detailed information about Exchange Server 2010 SP2 support in POA 5.4, refer to this KB article: https://kb.odin.com/en/113278.
Parallels WPE pre-deployment
POA 5.4 requires a new host for a Parallels Windows Provisioning Engine (WPE) deployment if Exchange 2010 is installed.
Starting with POA 5.4, the Hosted Messaging and Collaboration (HMC) provisioning system is replaced with the Windows Provisioning Engine (WPE) provisioning system for Exchange Server 2010 (Enterprise Mode). The server(s) for the WPE provisioning system must be prepared before the POA upgrade. For detailed instructions on preparing the host for WPE deployment, refer to this KB article: https://kb.odin.com/en/113933.
During the POA 5.4 upgrade process, at the "pre-upgrade phase," the WindowsProvisioningEngine package's properties are requested. These properties must be prepared before the POA 5.4 upgrade.
SharePoint Foundation 2010
The oldest supported version of SharePoint Foundation 2010 is SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2460058) with the June 2011 Cumulative Update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2536601).
All SharePoint farms must be upgraded before upgrading POA; use instructions from Windows Shared Hosting Deployment Guide, chapter Deploying Windows SharePoint Hosting, section Installing Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 > Installing SharePoint Foundation 2010 Updates.
