When customers try to add a ticket the mail Bounces back to our support address. The bounce reply has the following error:

The mail system

<root@%pbas_host% (expanded from <ts_gw@%pbas_host%>): cannot update
 mailbox /var/mail/root for user root. error writing message: File too large

The /var/mail/root file is far larger that the limit defined in postfix:

[root@hspc ~]# du -sh /var/mail/root
1.4G    /var/mail/root

While the current limits are 50 Mbytes:

[root@hspc ~]# postconf virtual_mailbox_limit
virtual_mailbox_limit = 51200000
[root@hspc ~]# postconf mailbox_size_limit
mailbox_size_limit = 51200000

  1. Increase the limits to unlimited using the following commands:

    [root@hspc ~]# postconf -e "virtual_mailbox_limit = 0"
    [root@hspc ~]# postconf -e "mailbox_size_limit = 0"

    Note: setting those to 0 will actually make them unlimited, but you can use some other value, granted that it is greater than 50Mbytes. Postfix reload would also be required after the change:

    [root@hspc ~]# postfix reload
  2. Another way would be to clean up the /var/mail/root file manually.
