How to change the hostname of DNS service node?
Such functionality was implemented in PA 11.5 #MU04.
/usr/local/ppa/bin/hostname utility allows to to change the host name of the management node and service nodes in PA. Find out more in our documentation.
/usr/local/ppa/bin/hostname utility will not change NS records for existing DNS zones. To update NS records you could apply one of the following solutions:
In the settings of each DNS zone click to Change DNS Hosting to External afterwards click to Change DNS Hosting to External.
- Apply the resolution described in the article
For the PA 11.1:
It is only one way to change hostname - add service node from scratch, it will be needed to remove all the DNS zones from node. You may follow the steps below to achieve that goal:
For each DNS Zones change DNS Hosting to External.
Go to Operations > DNS Manager > DNS Zones > choose a zone > switch to DNS tab > click "Change DNS Hosting to External" > Finish
Go to Products > Resource Types > DNS > Activation Parameters > and change "First nameserver" parameter.
Delete a DNS service node.
Infrastructure > Service Nodes > choose a node > Delete
Change a hostname.
Register a node.
Go to Products > Resource Types > DNS > Activation Parameters > and change "First nameserver" to the correct one.
For each DNS Zones change DNS Hosting to back to internal.
Go to Operations > DNS Manager > DNS Zones > choose a zone > switch to DNS tab > click "Change DNS Hosting to Internal" > Finish
