Symptoms

APS application cannot be installed on NG Hosting webspace in POA 5.1 because required Apache modules are missing. Required module(s) may be: mod_actions, mod_alias, mod_asis, mod_auth_basic, mod_auth_digest, mod_authn_anon, mod_authn_dbm, mod_authn_default, mod_authn_file, mod_authz_groupfile, mod_authz_host, mod_authz_user, mod_autoindex, mod_cern_meta, mod_dir, mod_env, mod_expires, mod_headers, mod_imagemap, mod_include, mod_mime, mod_negotiation, mod_rewrite, mod_setenvif, mod_ssl, mod_unique_id.

The Apache modules mentioned in the error message are actually installed on the web hosting servers in NG cluster.

Cause

POA cannot properly recognize that required Apache modules are installed on web server. Although Apache directives are case insensitive, POA requires  'LOADMODULE' directive to be in upper case in the Apache configuration file. So, if the LOADMODULE directive in the Apache configuration file is not upper-case, POA will improperly parse it.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to fix the problem:

  1. Login via SSH to Director Web Server in NG cluster.
  2. Create backup copies of the following configuration files:
    • /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
    • /etc/httpd/conf.d/h2e.conf
  3. Modify the above mentioned files using the following command: perl -pi -e 'if($_!~ /h2e/i) { s/^LoadModule(\s+)/LOADMODULE$1/; }' /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf /etc/httpd/conf.d/h2e.conf
  4. Login to POA Provider Control Panel
  5. Go to Deployment Director > Server Manager > Web Clusters > choose the problem web cluster > switch to the 'Apache Extensions' tab and click on 'Synchronize Apache Extensions' button
  6. Wait while corresponding task will be completed.
  7. Repeat steps 1-3 for each web server in Web Cluster.
