SymptomsA customer cannot choose the "Items Type" when creating a public folder in CCP for a Hosted Exchange 2010 subscription. Only the default type, Mail Items, is available:
At the same time, in a subscription with the Hosted Exchange 2007 resource, a customer may select the desired Items Type:
API, which POA uses to create public folders with different types, is not supported in Exchange 2010. The Microsoft HMC (Hosted Messaging and Collaboration) platform has never supported this feature; in Exchange 2007, it was implemented via the WebDAV protocol. WebDAV support is discontinued in Exchange 2010.
Therefore, POA supports only one default Items Type, Mail Items, for Public Folders in Exchange 2010.
Additional InformationQ: How will this affect users who are migrating from Exchange 2007 that have a calendar and contact public folders (PF)? Will their PF be converted to the "Mail" type or will they not be touched?
A: The existing folders will be left intact. This limitation concerns only new folders being created through POA Control Panel. It is still possible to create folders of other types via Outlook.
Q: I heard that Exchange 15 is going to still have Public Folders support. Is Parallels going to do something?
A: Yes, we are planning to reintroduce support for non-mail item types in future versions of POA (after 5.4).
