Symptoms

A customer registered or transferred domain under their account in PBA-E.

After order provisioning finished a customer received two notifications (so called 'welcome emails') for each registered/transferred domain.

Cause

The reason why a customer received two notifications for each registered domain is most probably in the fact that notifications are configured in two places:
  • event
  • service plan
In the default installation PBA-E is configured to send notifications about registered/transferred domains through the event 'Creation Completed'. This means that it is not needed to configure notification template in each domain registration service plan, customers will get welcome emails via event handler.

In order to check whether Event Manager is configured to send notifications about registered/transferred domain perform the following actions:
  • log into PBA-E control panel as Provider
  • go to Top > Configuration Director > Event Manager Settings > Event Types > choose the event "Creation Completed" > switch to the tab "Event Handlers"
  • on the screen 00.00.52 you will see two handlers with the following parameters:
    • Object - MESSAGE
    • Method - SubscriptionNotification
These handlers send notifications to customers about registered/transfered domains. One handler is supposed to send notifications about completed domain registrations (it has condition 'DomainOperation==10' in its properties, which exactly means domain registration operation), another one is supposed to send domain transfer notifications (the condition is 'DomainOperation==90').

If Provider configured notification templates in domain service plans than customers will get double notifications which will be sent by the event "Creation Completed" and by order processing system.

Resolution

To get rid of duplicate notifications it is enough to remove notification template from domain registration service plan(s). It may be done in service plan properties on the tab 'General', section 'Main'.
