Symptoms

HTTPD process crashes nearly at 4AM

Cause

In some cases Apache is not properly restarted during execution of cron jobs.

Resolution

Change /etc/logrotate.d/httpd and /usr/local/bin/weblogs files

  1. Log as root to your PPCPL box
  2. Open the /etc/logrotate.d/httpd file using a text editor

vi /etc/logrotate.d/httpd

  1. Make sure that postrotate has the following command

/bin/kill -HUP `cat /var/run/httpd.pid 2>/dev/null` 2> /dev/null || true

  1. Open the /usr/local/bin/weblogs file using a text editor

vi /usr/local/bin/weblogs

  1. Make sure that the Apache restart command in the apHUP() subroutine is represented in the following way:

system("/etc/init.d/httpd restart");
