Symptoms

The message "Encryption Disabled" is displayed at the top of the main frame of the Parallels Business Automation - Enterprise (PBA-E) Provider CP.

Cause

DES data encryption is disabled on the PBA-E server.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to enable DES data encryption in PBA:

  1. Log in to the PBA server as "root."
  1. Stop the PBA server:

# /etc/init.d/pba stop

  1. Create an 8-byte-long binary file /usr/local/Stellart/licenses/db.password and put the password into the file. Example of file contents: "dEsEnCr" (without quotes; also note that this is just an example of a possible password and is not to be used on live installations).
ATTENTION! Once the encryption password is set, it cannot be changed by direct file editing in any case. Therefore, you need to execute extreme caution when setting it. Refer to the Changing Encryption Password section of the PBA Installation Guide for instructions on changing the password.
       
        4.  Start the PBA server:
# /etc/init.d/pba start
