Symptoms

This knowledge base article includes information about Server Director Linux 4.1 hotfix for compatibility with system libraries update released by RedHat. In certain conditions updating RHEL 4 with up2date utility can affect Server Director installation, causing it to fail during startup. In some cases Segmentation fault messages will appear in the logs.

Addressed issue:

In certain conditions updating RHEL 4 with up2date utility can affect Server Director installation, causing it to fail during startup. In some cases Segmentation fault messages will appear in the logs.

 

Solution:

The solution requires two steps:

1. Downloading hotfix file from Sphera Downloads Manager http://downloads.sphera.com/

2. Installing the hotfix on the server. The hotfix is self executable and will not require additional tools to install.

 

Installation:

Note: to install the hotfix you have to be logged in as root to the server.

1. Download the hotfix file hotfix_SDL_4_1_kb1709.sh from http://downloads.sphera.com/

(Linux > Version 4.1 > Patches)

2. Apply executable permissions on the file: chmod 0700 hotfix_SDL_4_1_kb1709.sh.

3. Execute the file: ./hotfix_SDL_4_1_kb1709.sh.

4. Restart Server Director using sphadmin utility.
