Resolution

Problem

When trying to delete a domain it fails, and I get the following errors in the log:

2005-04-18 12:36:56 Website.IWeb_RemoveHostHeader Unknown error while adding host header: Permission denied
2005-04-18 12:36:56 CDomainAlias.DeleteEx Unknown error while adding host header: Permission denied
2005-04-18 12:36:56 CDomain.DeleteDomainEx Unknown error while adding host header: Permission denied

Solution

The most likely cause of this is a corruption of the IIS.xml file that Helm uses. It contains pointers that tell Helm where in IIS a domain resides, so Helm knows where to make the edits/additions for web-related services.

Removing that file will force the control panel to re-probe the IIS configuration and populate that file with the relevant information it needs to process domain changes.

Go to C:\\Helm.Config and delete the IIS.xml file. If you cannot delete it because it is locked, reboot the server, then delete it.

Now go into Helm - deleting a domain should work. Otherwise, please contact your support provider.
