Title
Problems encountered after running linuxconf in WEBppliance 3.0 for Linux

Summary
Problems encountered after running linuxconf in WEBppliance 3.0 for Linux

Prevention

Details
If the hostname is changed through linuxconf, linuxconf doesn't appear to update /etc/hosts. This causes a problem if /etc/rc.d/init.d/detectchanges is run (manually or at boot).

The script detectchanges will propogate changes such as hostname or ip to various configuration files. detectchanges relies on the command 'hostname -i' for the ip address for the server. After you run linuxconf, run hostname -i if you recieve:

hostname: Unknown host

Verify that /etc/hosts is configured correctly after running linuxconf.

If you're having problems with services not functioning correctly because of missing hostnames or ip addresse related to the detectchange script then download the following script and run it on your WEBppliance.

ftp://ftp.ensim.com/outgoing/detectchanges/fix-detectchanges.sh

This has been resolved in WEBppliance 3.0.4.
