Parallels Virtuozzo Containers (PVC) for Windows supports a wide range of antivirus software products. In order to ensure flawless interaction with PVC, Parallels regularly performs compatibility tests, working closely with antivirus software vendors and issuing PVC software updates when necessary.
Please use this article as a reference point in determining the antivirus solution for your PVC Windows systems. Prior to using information from this article, make sure your PVC servers are running on the latest patch level available.
Note that all antivirus solutions described below must be installed on the node only. Antivirus programs installed on the node protect all containers automatically. Antivirus installation inside containers is not supported.
Antivirus software compatibility with Parallels Virtuozzo Containers:
Symantec Endpoint Protection
- 11.0 (supported since VZU400014 update)
Make sure the "VPC32.exe" string is added to the value of the following key:
For Symantec 11.0 it is necessary to add the following key:
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
- 8.7i (since VZU400018 update)
- 8.0 (since VZU400018 update)
For AVG to work properly with Virtuozzo, it is necessary to add the following values below under the registry key:

F-Secure 7 Hotfix 6 is not supported.
SCSI drives should be remounted for those containers that use them, if the Hardware Node is restarted.
Sophos NAC requires "World Wide Web Publishing Service", which is disabled by Parallels Virtuozzo Containers on the hardware node by default.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus - Autoprotect does not work inside containers (184.108.40.2068, 220.127.116.117, 18.104.22.1680)
TrendMicro OfficeScan 8.0 - Autoprotect does not work inside containers
eEye Digital Security Blink 3.0 - Autoprotect does not work inside containers, VZCP does not work.
Dr.Web Anti-Virus - Not supported
- NOD32 - Not supported
