Symptoms

Install AspMail on customer's website, then open AspMail URL like http://domain.com/aspmail/sendmail.html and try to send email.

After submit you see the following error message:
Error:
Mailing Failed... Error is:
Cannot create file

Error in the Windows Event Viewer on a server where webspace is located:
The Template Persistent Cache initialization failed for Application Pool 'poolName' because of the following error: Could not create a Disk Cache Sub-directory for the Application Pool. The data may have additional error codes.

Cause

AspMail cannot create file in system temp folder on Windows Shared Hosting server.

Resolution

Check permissions for the Windows system temp folder (usually %SystemRoot%\TEMP).
  • Make sure CREATOR OWNER has full control for 'Subfolders and files only'
  • Make sure local 'Users' group has 'Traverse Folder', 'Create Files', and 'Create Folders' permissions for 'This folder and subfolders'.
  • Make sure inheritable permissions from the parent are not allowed. This is important because unwanted allow and deny rules may be inherited from parent.
