Symptoms

The following errors are registered in error_log:

[Tue May 15 22:07:27 2018] [error] PHP Warning:  session_start(): open(/var/lib/php/session/sess_33569401722d35bbdea3330a36091d64, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /var/www/vhosts/8/111000/webspace/httpdocs/example.com/form.php on line 2

Aftected websites are unable to save PHP sessions.

Cause

The users, websites running behalf on, are enclosed by CageFS. However, the /var/lib/php/session was not mounted to the user space.

Resolution

  1. Edit the file /etc/cagefs/cagefs.mp
  2. Add the line @/var/lib/php/session,700 to the bottom of the file and save the changes
  3. Apply changes to all users:

    # cagefsctl --remount-all
    

    to apply changes to a specific user:

    #  cagefsctl --remount a100101
