Symptoms

Task Provisioning "LyncUserLicense" for APS application Microsoft Lync Hosting Pack v2 fails with the following output:

Internal error:
500 Internal Server Error
[ApplicationUnknownError] Execution problem: Command execution stopped because the preference variable "ErrorActionPreference" or common parameter is set to Stop: Policy "Gold" is not a user policy. You can assign only a user policy to a specific user..

Cause

In the APS instance configuration there is conferencing policy named "Gold" configured

Services > Applications > Microsoft Lync Hosting Pack v2 > lyncpool.provider.local > User Profiles

But this policy is absent on the Lync environment. To ensure that run the following commandlet from Lync APS endpoint server:

PS C:\CreateOrganizationPolicies> Get-CsConferencingPolicy Gold
Get-CsConferencingPolicy : Cannot find "ConferencingPolicy" "Tag:Gold" because
it does not exist.

Resolution

  1. Create appopriate policy with the following commandlet:

    PS C:\> New-CsConferencingPolicy Gold
    
  2. Re-run the task in question
