Symptoms

When trying to upload file via FTP to IIS service node the following error is displayed:

550 Access is denied.

If trying to upload a file via FTP on a service node locally, the error message contains more details:

win32 error: Access Denied
Error Details: Authorization Rules Denied the access
550 end 

Cause

IIS FTP authorization rules are set to allow only reading files.

Resolution

  1. Run IIS management snap-in
  2. Select the server IP address at IIS snap-in > server name > Sites
  3. Double-click the button FTP Authorization Rules in the central panel
  4. Add Write permission to the FTP authorization rule.
