Question

How can I configure password protection for domains Web Statistic?

Answer

Web statistic engines(Webalizer/AWStats) create reports on how the subscription's websites are visited: how many people visited a site, and which web pages they viewed.

Once subscriber enabled Web Statistic engine for domain it becomes possible to browse statistic data at at URLs like http://example.com/plesk-stat/webstat. By the default, password protection is not configured for web statistic data.

It could be enabled by selecting corresponding checkbox under Customer Control Panel > Websites > Hosting Settings (click on the image below to get an example)

After that, web statistic pages will be available using main FTP account login and password.

Alternatively, you can enable password protection for all Plesk Automation domains by following steps:

  1. Login to PA Management node using ssh as root.

  2. Download attached enable_webstat_protected_dirs.sh file and make it executable:

    [root@pa115mn scrripts]# wget https://kb.odin.com/Attachments/kcs-67848/enable_webstat_protected_dirs.sh
    [root@pa115mn scrripts]# sed -i -e 's/\r$//' enable_webstat_protected_dirs.sh
    [root@pa115mn scripts]# chmod +x enable_webstat_protected_dirs.sh

  3. Run the script and wait until it will be completed. Execution time depends on number of domains with hosting, registered in Plesk Automation:

    [root@pa115mn scripts]# ./enable_webstat_protected_dirs.sh
