Symptoms

A customer cannot install the Office 365 APS application in their subscription in the OA CCP. The corresponding OA background task fails with the error message:

Method add_customer calling failed. Reason:SubDomainInUseFault

The Office 365 application in the OA Customer Control Panel has Unprovisioning status.

Cause

The reason for the problem is that the customer tried to uninstall the Office 365 application and then reinstall it. During Office 365 service provisioning, OA automatically assigns a subdomain name to the customer account in Office 365. This subdomain has to be unique and is assigned during creation of the customer in MOSI; it cannot be changed and customers cannot be removed from MOSI. So, if a customer tries to uninstall the Office 365 application and then reinstall it, OA will try to assign the same subdomain to the customer account in Microsoft, and this request will fail on the MS side with the error message SubDomainInUseFault. This means that Office365 can be provisioned only once for a single subscription and that deprovisioning of Office365 is not possible (it will be removed only with the subscription's cancellation).

Resolution

Disable the ability to uninstall the Office 365 application from a subscription once it is installed:

1. Log in to the OA Provider Control Panel
2. Go to Top > Service Director > Application Manager > Applications
3. Click on the Office 365 application
4. Switch to the Resource Types, click the resource type of the Application resource class, switch to the Activation Parameters tab, click Edit on the General tab
5. Enable the parameter `Prohibit application instance deinstallation` and save changes

As a result, the customer will not be able to uninstall the Office 365 application in the OA CCP.
