Symptoms

One of Virtuozzo nodes registered in OBAS becomes Unavailable regularly. An attempt to reconnect the node leads to errors:

Authentication error: invalid credentials

or

    System errors : unauthorized request

var/log/hspc/vzagent.log contains the following string:

T=11:02:12:314; L=(udf); PID=32639; TID=7f77d6557760; P=VZLAuthEngine [handle] Limit(200) <= Active(200)

After restarting pvaagent on the node it is possible to reconnect it again in OBAS.

Cause

PVA Agent reached user_session_limit parameter (200 in our example, Limit(200) <= Active(200)) and can not create more sessions.

Resolution

To check the amount of sessions on the node:

  1. Log in to the Virtuozzo node.
  2. Execute the following command:

    ~# echo "<packet><target>sessionm</target><data><sessionm><list_sessions/></sessionm></data></packet>" | /opt/pva/agent/bin/sendRequestViaTCP.pl local - > sessions.txt

  3. Count the number of sessions, e.g.:

    ~# strings sessions.txt | grep -c '<session>'

The number of sessions will exceed 200. To resolve the issue please increase the limit in the PVA Agent configuration file to, say, 250. To perform it:

  1. Add <user_session_limit>250</user_session_limit> to the sessionm section in vzagent.conf so that the resulting section looks like:

        <sessionm>
                <configuration>
                <user_session_limit>250</user_session_limit>
                <session_expiration>1200</session_expiration>
                <persistent_session_expiration>180</persistent_session_expiration>
                <inactive_session_expiration>30</inactive_session_expiration>
                </configuration>
                </sessionm>

  2. Restart PVA Agent:

        ~#service pvaagentd restart

  3. Reconnect the node in OBAS.
