Symptoms

Cannot create the webspace (IIS hosting) with the reserved Windows Names in its title. The provisioning task fails:

Unable to update hosting preferences. System user update is failed: Unable to create system user: Unable to execute usermng: At Unable to set the object (C:\inetpub\vhosts\com1.tld) security info: (2) The system cannot find the file specified.
rollback failed: Unable to remove user home: (Unable to move (C:\inetpub\vhosts\com1.tld) to (C:\Recycler\{86066D57-9347-46a7-B4DB-971D9EF36D29}): (32) The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)

Windows Reserved names:

CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9.

Cause

The files or folders named with one of the special Windows word cannot be worked out on Windows System.

This behavior is known as the software issue PPA-2320.

Resolution

Neither the workaround nor the solution is available by the moment.

In order to remove failed task perform the following steps:

  1. Go to 'PPA Provider Panel> Operations> Tasks', click the name of the failed task, press 'Cancel task tree' button, confirm.

  2. Go to 'Customer Control Panel> Webspaces', remove the failed webspace.

Check whether the folder 'C:\inetpub\vhosts\com1.tld' was removed on the IIS service node. If not, remove it as follows:

  1. Log on to the IIS service node
  2. Open command line (cmd.exe)
  3. Issue the command:

    C:\> rd \\.\c:\inetpub\vhosts\com1.tld
