How to change the IP address of secondary DNS server.


  1. Add new Service IP address on the l.server in E.Manager->L.serevers->"affected_server" in H-sphere CP
  2. If the affected IP adders is used by resellers, need to delete server aliases for these resellers. To get list of server aliases please use the following query:

    hsphere=# select name from dns_records where data = '' and zone_id is not NULL;
    (1 row)

where is IP address you would like to change. To find resellers use search by domain name.

  1. Delete server aliases for the resellers.
  2. Add NEW IP on the server.
  3. Replace old IP with new IP in /etc/named.conf file on the server.

    options { version "Not disclosed"; recursion yes; allow-recursion { any; }; allow-query-cache { any; };

       directory "/hsphere/local/var/named";
        listen-on {
;;   <-replace IP here
        pid-file "/hsphere/local/var/named/";
        transfer-format many-answers;
        max-transfer-time-in 60;
        flush-zones-on-shutdown yes;
        interface-interval 0;


  4. Restart named server.

       service named restart
  5. Delete OLD IP from l.server in H-sphere CP.
  6. Click "Generate custom DNS records for this logical server" button in l.server window.
  7. Create server aliases for the resellers from step 3.
