Symptoms

  1. The anti-spam setting for "Mark spam messages by adding the following text to message subject" set to "SPAM SCORE" does not show score.

  2. The following can be observed in the /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog log:

    May 22 13:39:04 postfix-sn-com spamd[4389]: spamd: connection from localhost [127.0.0.1] at port 39723
    May 22 13:39:04 postfix-sn-com spamd[4389]: spamd: handle_user unable to find user: 'paralells@domain.tld'
    May 22 13:39:04 postfix-sn-com spamd[4389]: spamd: still running as root: user not specified with -u, not found, or set to root, falling back to nobody

  3. The daemon spamd running with options like:

    [root@ppa ~]# ps faxu | grep spamd
    19553 ?        Ss     0:09 /usr/bin/spamd -d -c -m5 -H -r /var/run/spamd.pid

Cause

The daemon spamd running with wrong options:

    ~# cat /etc/sysconfig/spamassassin
    # Options to spamd
    SPAMDOPTIONS="-d -c -m5 -H"

Resolution

  1. Login in Parallels Plesk Automation (PPA) Administration Panel.

  2. Disabled and enabled back the Switch on server-wide SpamAssassin spam filtering and Apply individual settings to spam filtering settings under the

    Top -> Infrastructure -> Service Nodes -> Postfix service node -> Spam Filter Settings

  3. Login to Postfix service node as root and make sure that daemon spamd is running with the following options:

    14318 ?        Ss     0:01 /usr/bin/spamd --nouser-config --username=popuser --daemonize --helper-home-dir=/var/qmail --virtual-config-dir=/var/qmail/mailnames/%d/%l/.spamassassin --create-prefs --max-children=5 -r /var/run/spamd.pid

    ~# cat /etc/sysconfig/spamassassin
    # Options to spamd
    SPAMDOPTIONS="--nouser-config --username=popuser --daemonize --helper-home-dir=/var/qmail --virtual-config-dir=/var/qmail/mailnames/%d/%l/.spamassassin --create-prefs --max-children=5"
