Symptoms

I changed subscription settings and now "Update web hosting settings of the subscription" task faisl with error:

Unable to update hosting preferences. system user update is failed: Unable to check system user existance: login name is empty. Incorrect fields: "login".

Cause

The issue is caused by database inconsistence, subscription has missing record in psa database.

Subscription has std_fwd type, but has no records in forwarding and DomainServices tables:

  1. Find subscirption id:

    mysql> select id,name,htype from domains where name='example.com';
    +----+---------------------+---------+
    | id | name                | htype   |
    +----+---------------------+---------+
    |  2 | example.com         | std_fwd |
    +----+---------------------+---------+

  2. Check if there is corresponding record in forwarding table:

    mysql> select * from forwarding where dom_id=2;
    Empty set (0.00 sec)

  3. Check if record with type web exists in DomainServices table:

    mysql> select * from DomainServices where dom_id=2 and type='web';
    Empty set (0.00 sec)

Resolution

  1. To fix the issue change hosting type to none for the subscription in question:

    mysql> update domains set htype='none' where id=2;
    Query OK, 1 row affected (0.09 sec)
    Rows matched: 1  Changed: 1  Warnings: 0

  2. Rerun failed task.
