Symptoms

A customer created staff member with the login 'user@domain.com' in their account in the POA Customer Control Panel (CCP), and they want to create a new mailbox 'user@domain.com' for this staff member.

Creating mailbox in CCP results in the following error message:

Service user with login 'user@domain.com' already exists

See the screenshot below as well:

However, there is no service user with the login 'user@domain.com' in the customer's subscription.

Cause

When creating the mailbox in CCP the customer chose the 'New Service User' option (because there is no such service user yet), POA tried to create a new user with the login 'user@domain.com' and failed to do this because staff member with such login already exists in the database.

Resolution

Service user login name and name of the email address assigned to it may be different, so follow the steps below to resolve the problem.

  1. Create a new Service User in the POA Customer Control Panel with different login (not 'user@domain.com').

  2. Create the required mailbox in CCP using the 'Existing Service User' option and choose the user that you have created on the step 1. Specify e-mail address - 'user@domain.com'.
