When removing CAS server, a task fails with:
Queue name host_operations_39 Task name cleanup packages on host '<SERVERNAME>' Task description Task that uninstall packages from host '<SERVERNAME>' Queue status Failed Method name cleanupHostPackages on SCREF:ppm:4 Last execution output Service #61 with name 'Exchange2007Protocols' controlled by service controller #54 is used on host '<SERVERNAME>'.
The possible cause for the issue is that the server you are trying to remove has services attached to it. Check Top > Deployment Director > Server Manager > Hardware Nodes >
<SERVERNAME> > Customer services in POA.
If you need to replace one physical CAS server
<SERVERNAME> with another, say having name
<SERVERNAME>-NEW, it could be done easily by following Deployment guide and performing these procedures:
- Add new server
<SERVERNAME>-NEWto the existing
<SERVERNAME>as a cluster using Windows NLB.
- After the same packages will be installed on the new server, all required changes will be also applied on that new server.
- Remove all Exchange packages from old server
<SERVERNAME>and turn off NLB - so new server will handle all the requests as old server did.
