Symptoms

The POA task to register or update domain in MessageLabs fails with the following error message:

SOAP Error: Server, MLCS: User does not have permissions to modify Registered Users configuration: An unexpected system error has occurred, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider support team quoting reference ref_id.

The domain in question is present in the MessageLabs admin interface with the following note:

Add a domain to enable us to scan and route your incoming emails. To do this, you complete the guided steps in which you enter the domain information. The domain will then appear below in the Inactive Domains list until the final steps are complete.

Further configuration can be achieved by clicking on the status links for each domain. For detailed information on each status, hover your mouse pointer over the status or perform a search in the Online Help.

Cause

The error message shown in the failed POA task is taken from the response received from MessageLabs, so the actual reason of the problem is an unexpected system error occurred on MessageLabs side.

Resolution

Contact the support department of MessageLabs to clarify the details regarding user permission to modify Registered Users configuration for the domain in question.
