How to move master DNS service to the separate node?

By default Plesk Automation uses Management Node as master DNS server. To make it using the separate DNS server:

  1. Deploy new DNS node and add it to PA infrastructure.

  2. Change Activation parameters for the DNS resource, set new DNS server as a master:

Top > Products > Resource Types > DNS > Activation Parameters

Now all new subscriptions will use new DNS server.

IMPORTANT: The servers defined in the parameters of service template (Service Templates > Template > Parameters tab) have higher priority than DNS resource. In other words, changing the activation parameters of DNS resource type will not affect new subscription unless default value is specified under parameters of Service Template.

To move DNS configuration for previously created subscriptions it is needed to redeploy them:

  1. Change DNS hosting to external:

Top > Operations> DNS Manager > DNS Zones > > DNS tab > Change DNS hosting to external

  2. Then "Change DNS hosting to internal" back, select needed domain, click "Finish":

Top > Operations> DNS Manager > DNS Zones > > DNS tab > Change DNS hosting to internal

NOTE: refer to the article to find the way to switch DNS hosting type for all the zones.
