Symptoms

The Provider needs to gather Microsoft Lync 2010 Server usage statistics and prepare the SKU usage for reporting to Microsoft.

Cause

This is a routine monthly activity, according Microsoft SPLA.

Resolution

Run the following script (attached to this KB) on the Lync provisioning gateway host, and use the output provided.

1.	Locate the attached script file on the provisioning gateway host.
2.	Execute a test SPLA report:
.\Create-LyncSPLAReport.ps1 -To "<To E-mail address>" -From "<From E-mail address>" -SmtpServer "<SMTP Server>"

The report should contain the following information:
[2/21/2012 10:02:17 AM] Lync SPLA Report
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
[6QH-00002] Lync Server Standard (IM/Presence): <count>
[6RH-00002] Lync Server Enterprise (IM/Presence & Conferencing): <count>
[6SH-00002] Lync Server Plus (IM/Presence & Voice): <count>
[6TH-00002] Lync Server Ent Plus (IM/Presence & Conferencing & Voice): <count>
            Disabled: <count>
            Total: <count>

3.	If the script is performed correctly, register a schedule:
schtasks /create /SC MONTHLY /mo LASTDAY /TR "%SystemRoot%\system32\windowspowershell\v1.0\powershell.exe
-command 'C:\Create-LyncSPLAReport.ps1 <To E-mail address> -From <From E-mail address>
-SmtpServer <SMTP Server>'" /ST 23:59 /TN "Lync SPLA Report" /M *

This command registers the schedule that performs an SPLA reporting script
on the last day of every month at 23:59.
