Symptoms

A customer created service user with login/email using IDN domain. POA task to register of the user (mailbox) in Open-Xchange fails with error message 'Illegal chars: " "'.

Cause

Open-Xchange configuration has particular settings for login and mapping validation, by default IDN symbols are not allowed in login and mapping.

Resolution

Perform the following changes on Open-Xchange server:

1. Edit the /opt/open-xchange/etc/admindaemon/User.properties file - disable the CHECK_USER_UID_FOR_NOT_ALLOWED_CHARS option:
CHECK_USER_UID_FOR_NOT_ALLOWED_CHARS=false
2. Edit the /opt/open-xchange/etc/admindaemon/plugin/hosting.properties file - change the CHECK_CONTEXT_LOGIN_MAPPING_REGEXP option to allow all symbols:
CHECK_CONTEXT_LOGIN_MAPPING_REGEXP=.*
3. Restart Open-Xchange services:
 # /etc/init.d/open-xchange-groupware restart
# /etc/init.d/open-xchange-admin restart
