Symptoms

Customer changed password of service user in POA CCP, corresponding task to apply changes on Microsoft side fails with error message like this:

Application configuration script reported errors: '<?xml version="1.0"?>
<output xmlns="http://apstandard.com/ns/1/configure-output">
<errors>
<error id="validation-error" setting-id="Configuration">
<message>Method edit_user calling failed. Reason:The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.</message>
</error>
</errors>
</output>

Cause

The possible reason of problem is that password does not suit Microsoft requirements:
  • Strong passwords contain at least seven characters and include a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers or non-alphanumeric characters.
  • The user cannot repeat any of the previous 24 passwords.
  • Password cannot be changed more than 1 time per day (not confirmed with Microsoft)

Resolution

In case password is too weak follow advices in the KB article Office 365: cannot add user.

In case customer tries to change password several times per day just suggest that customer wait and try to re-submit task on the next day.
